The U.S. Mint has released its official coin designs ahead of America’s semiquincentennial birthday celebration in 2026, featuring art that pays homage to the industrious and brave spirit of the men and women who made this country great.
According to the U.S. Mint’s website, the circulating quarter will feature five new designs related to American history, and the circulating nickel will have a “1776/2026” dual date.
“Designs for the 2026 Semiquincentennial circulating coins were created by the Mint’s Medallic Artists and Artistic Infusion Program designers based on guidance from federal advisors and program stakeholders,” the U.S. Mint said.
Final approvals on these designs came from U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
New and updated designs include:
- “Emerging Liberty Dime,”
- “Mayflower Compact Quarter,”
- “Revolutionary War Quarter,”
- “Declaration of Independence Quarter,”
- “U.S. Constitution Quarter,”
- “Gettysburg Address Quarter,”
- “1776-2026 Nickel.”
There will also be an “Enduring Liberty Half Dollar,” as well as a “1776-2026” penny, despite the official penny’s discontinuation.

“The designs on these historic coins depict the story of America’s journey toward a ‘more perfect union,’ and celebrate America’s defining ideals of liberty,” said Acting Mint Director Kristie McNally in a statement on Thursday. “We hope to offer each American the opportunity to hold our nation’s storied 250 years of history in the palms of their hands as we Connect America through Coins.”
These new coins will be released into circulation in 2026, according to the U.S. Mint.
As reported by RSBN, the U.S. Treasury may also mint a $1 Trump coin.
In October, U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach confirmed that there were official drafts of a potential Trump coin being considered ahead of the 250th year.
“No fake news here. These first drafts honoring America’s 250th Birthday and @POTUS are real. Looking forward to sharing more soon, once the obstructionist shutdown of the United States government is over,” he said.
At this point, no official “Trump coin” has been finalized, but the U.S. Mint has released several proposed designs for a potential $1 coin with President Trump’s likeness, as of this week.
