Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., received a warm rockstar welcome walking into a UFC fight on Saturday night as the crowd cheered him on as he entered the arena.
DeSantis high-fived with audience members, who were all smiles, as camera crews and security moved the governor through the crowd.
Gov. DeSantis’ popularity with Floridians is no secret. He has become a symbol of individual liberty and conservative values over the past two years after leading Florida through the chaos of the coronavirus pandemic. Despite pressure to lock Floridians down, he remained dedicated to maintaining Florida’s freedom and sovereignty despite attacks from the Biden administration.
Last week, DeSantis’ reelection campaign netted a massive $100 million from donations, possibly becoming the first candidate to earn such a large sum from donations alone. He is up for reelection in November, and so far, DeSantis seems to be an unstoppable opponent for any potential Democrat candidate who dares to run against him.
In March, Republican voter registrations eclipsed Democrats by a margin of over 100,000 for the first time in the history of the state of Florida. This is mainly due to DeSantis’ courageous leadership, which has drawn countless Americans from blue states looking for a place to live to protect their individual liberties.
Additionally, DeSantis’ popularity with Floridians is also due to the legislative policies that he has put into effect recently to combat both political corruption and bolster the middle class. On Monday, DeSantis signed HB 7065, which will direct $70 million to support fathers’ involvement with foster children and “at-risk” boys in the state of Florida.
DeSantis has also offered strong support for securing the southern border, which is woefully chaotic and wide open. He also referred to Joe Biden’s absent leadership as a “dereliction of duty” last week on Twitter.
