USA Today revealed on Monday that it will not endorse Vice President Kamala Harris despite endorsing President Joe Biden in 2020.

The news adds to a growing list of mainstream publications backing away from the Harris-Walz ticket in the final days ahead of the election.

“A spokesperson for the paper told the Daily Beast on Monday that it will instead focus on providing ‘readers with the facts that matter and the trusted information they need to make informed decisions,’” the Daily Beast reported.

“That’s a stark difference from four years ago when USA Today broke with decades-old tradition to endorse Joe Biden for president. That endorsement claimed Donald Trump wasn’t a capable leader and that the U.S. was ‘dangerously off course,’” it stated.

The Trump campaign was quick to note the massive shift in support away from Harris.

“Five of the six largest U.S. newspapers have now either declined to endorse Harris-Walz or forego endorsements altogether,” the Trump campaign noted in a statement.

Other publications include The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Detroit Free Press and the Minnesota Star Tribune.

“It’s not just major news outlets running away from Harris-Walz. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters withheld endorsing the Democrat ticket for the first time in almost three decades, while the International Association of Fire Fighters opted against endorsing the Democrat ticket for only the second time since at least 1976,” the Trump campaign added.

The campaign called it “humiliating” for Harris as she has continued to solidify traditional Democratic support after receiving the nomination without a single primary vote.

“President Trump — the best closer in politics — has the momentum, the enthusiasm, and the message for the time — and next week, he’ll send Kamala back to California for good,” the Trump campaign concluded in the statement.

As RSBN previously noted, some of the changes are decades in the making. For the past four presidential election cycles, the Los Angeles Times has endorsed the Democratic candidate.

Although they did predict that Trump would win in 2016, they have not endorsed a Republican in decades. This year, they are not endorsing either candidate.
