Vice presidential candidate JD Vance followed through on his debate statement to provide evidence of illegal immigrants driving housing increases.

The Ohio senator took to X to post remarks from the Federal Reserve Board of Governors Michelle Bowman and additional studies.

“Given the current low inventory of affordable housing, the inflow of new immigrants to some geographic areas could result in upward pressure on rents, as additional housing supply may take time to materialize,” Vance quoted from the study.

Vance also quoted a Science Direct study that showed an association between “immigration inflows” into cities and increased rents and housing costs.

“Immigration inflows into a particular Metropolitan statistical area (MSA) is associated with increases in rents and with house prices in that MSA while also seeming to drive up rents and prices in neighboring MSAs,” the study read.

A third study cited by Vance also highlighted government spending increases on housing and other areas as immigration increased.

“The research literature has generally found that increases in immigration raise state and local governments’ spending—particularly on education, health care, and housing—more than their revenues,” a 2024 Congressional Budget Office report found.

CBS post-analysis of the debate highlighted the cordial nature of the debate, offering Americans a clear presentation on important issues ahead of the election.

“Last night was fun!” Vance wrote on X after the debate. “Remember: Kamala Harris has been in power for the last 3.5 years. She opened the border. She cast the deciding vote on trillions in new spending. The border and affordability crisis is on her. Donald Trump, by contrast, governed with common sense.”

As RSBN previously reported, the Trump campaign released a statement following the debate declaring Vance’s performance as the “best” of any vice presidential candidate in history.

“Senator Vance unequivocally won tonight’s debate in dominating fashion. It was the best debate performance from any Vice-Presidential candidate in history,” Trump campaign spokespersons Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita wrote in the statement.

“Senator Vance spoke the truth, eloquently prosecuted the case against Kamala Harris’ failed record, and effectively held Governor Tim Walz accountable for his lies on behalf of the Harris-Biden Administration,” they added.
