Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita and 14 more attorneys general are suing the Biden administration over its non-compliance with a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request regarding the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) investigation into concerned parents speaking up at school board meetings, according to a report from Just the News.
The lawsuit comes on the heels of reports of the National School Board Association (NSBA) colluding with the Biden White House preceding their decision to send a letter to the Oval Office describing concerned parents as “domestic terrorists.”
In October 2021, Attorney General Merrick Garland sent a memo to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to address a “spike” in harassment against educators and school boards from parents who were upset over an uptick in critical race theory and iron-clad masking requirements on school campuses.
Additionally, in November 2021, RSBN reported that a FBI whistleblower alleged that the DOJ utilized counterterrorism tools against parents who had been voicing their opinions at school board meetings across the country.
Just the News says that the lawsuit against the Biden administration directly requests information related to the investigation, specifically requesting that Garland rescind his memo that insinuated parents were violent and harassing school board members or teachers.
Since the NSBA sent its infamous “terrorist” letter to the White House, multiple schools across the country have either pulled their membership from the organization or at least handily distanced themselves. Although the FBI has denied targeting parents with anti-terrorism tactics, the coalition of attorneys general from 17 states isn’t so sure.
Their request to force the Biden administration to reveal information related to the investigation and their aim to pressure Garland to walk back his inflammatory comments on parents of schoolchildren has been met with silent and cold resistance from the White House far.
