‘A very big day for LIBERTY’: Trump reacts to vindicating 14th Amendment SCOTUS decision

President Donald Trump celebrated Monday’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling that reversed the Colorado State Supreme Court’s decision to disqualify him from their 2024 ballot, speaking to the press from his home, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida.

The court handed down a 9-0 decision on the matter, which found that Congress alone has the authority to enforce the 14th Amendment, Section 3, of the U.S. Constitution.

Trump said that he hoped the ruling would “go a long way toward bringing our country together” and stated that it was something that would probably “be spoken about a hundred years from now.”

“Essentially, you cannot take somebody out of a race because an opponent would like to have it that way,” he explained.

He added, “I really do believe that will be a unifying factor” and stated that the ongoing legal persecution he has experienced has “brought up our support very strongly.”

President later said that he had “great respect” for the Supreme Court. He said that Monday was “a very big day for America.” He added, “I think it’s a very big day for liberty, and I think it’s just a great day for this country.”

“It’s a big step toward unification,” the president continued.

He also took time to deride the ongoing legal persecution in multiple venues, attacking New York Attorney Letitia James, Special Counsel Jack Smith, and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, among others.

“I’m lucky that I’m able to explain it to the public,” he said. “…I want to win based on my policies are better…I want to win on safe borders, I want to stop wars, I want to stop the war in Ukraine and Russia. I want to stop the war in Israel.”

He heavily emphasized the importance of the presidential immunity case that will be going up to the Supreme Court very soon, explaining, “A president has to be FREE,” when he’s in the Oval Office from the terror of legal attacks after leaving the White House.

He concluded, “I have great respect for the Supreme Court and I just want to thank them for working so quickly and so diligently and so brilliantly, and again, this is a unifying factor.”
