Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Texas, took a hardline stance against the drug cartels pouring across the southern border into the U.S. this week, officially labeling them terrorists. Abbott wrote on Twitter that Executive Order GA-42 directed the Texas Department of Public Safety to “take immediate action to disrupt the cartel & gang activity.”

According to a report from The Gateway Pundit, the executive order is fairly broad, instructing the Texas Department of Public Safety to establish a Mexican Cartel Division in the Texas Fusion Center, as well as identify, arrest, and “impede” gangs in the Lone Star State that may support drug and human trafficking.

“I also sent a letter to the Biden Admin. classify Mexican drug cartels operating in Texas as terrorist organizations,” the governor said on Twitter. “Texas is stepping up to get these gangs & deadly drugs off our streets.”

Per Breitbart, Abbott’s letter to Washington D.C. took aim at Biden’s inaction at the border and requested that his administration designate the Sinaloa and New Generation Cartels as terrorist organizations.

The governor wrote:

“Mexican drug cartels terrorize the United States and its citizens every day, leaving thousands of dead bodies in their wake. Their latest weapons of choice are the millions of tiny pills laced with fentanyl that they pour across our southern border. As a result, it is necessary, now more than ever, for you to designate the Sinaloa Cartel, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, and any similarly situated Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations under Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).”

Abbott has drawn attention to the failed immigration policies of Biden’s administration by sending illegal immigrants to Democrat-run cities around the nation. Per RSBN, Abbott sent migrants into places like Washington D.C., New York City, and Chicago to illustrate the unsustainability of allowing millions of people to cross the border.
