There is no doubt that the Sunshine State wants a return to President Donald Trump’s executive leadership, and the latest general election polling proves it.
According to a new average update from Decision Desk HQ/The Hill, Trump is leading Biden in the great state of Florida with just over 50 percent of statewide support ahead of the November 2024 general election, while Biden is trailing with 37 percent of support. The data, DDHQ revealed, was based on an average of nine polls.
Florida’s Republican primary election will be held on Tuesday, March 19. Last week, Trump swept to victory in the primary election nationwide and clinched enough delegates to win the nomination. Despite Trump’s early victory, the Florida primary election will still proceed, even though campaigning has already shifted toward the general election.
According to Florida Today, Tuesday’s primary election is closed, meaning that only registered Republican voters can cast a ballot. The outlet also reported that there would be no Democrat primary election in the Sunshine State in 2024.
The president’s lead in Florida has been consistent throughout the 2024 GOP primary season, too. In early January, just before the GOP primary election cycle kicked off in earnest, Trump held a crushing lead in a Miami-Dade Republican Executive Committee straw poll, which favored Trump at 53 votes compared to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).
In December 2023, Trump also held a huge lead among GOP primary voters in the state, where he netted a 41-point lead over DeSantis on the governor’s home turf, via data from Victory Insights.
Trump is also leading handily in another battleground state: Ohio. The president recently visited the Buckeye State this past weekend, where he stumped for Ohio Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno.
In Ohio, Trump is leading Biden by 11 points, based on DDHQ’s average of ten polls.
Trump’s whopping lead in states like Florida and other key battleground states is a strong indicator that he will perform strongly in the general election in November.
