Americans overwhelmingly approve of President Donald Trump’s handling of the Israel-Hamas War after brokering a ceasefire deal earlier this month.
The latest Emerson College survey reported that 47 percent of voters approve of the president’s handling of the war, while just 34 percent disapproved, putting the commander-in-chief 13 points above water.
An additional 19 percent of those surveyed reported themselves as neutral.
Prior to brokering a peace deal, President Trump’s favorability on the issue has completely flipped since Emerson’s 100-day poll, when 30 percent approved of his handling of the war, while 46 percent disapproved.
Republicans strongly approve of his Israel-Hamas peace deal, receiving 80 percent favorability to seven percent of those who disapproved. Democrats further disapproved 57 percent to 19 percent. The president’s support mainly derived from independents, who approve 43 percent to 38 percent. In April, independents disapproved 43 percent to 25 percent.
These figures come after all of the remaining living hostages held by Hamas were released Oct. 13, nearly two years after the war broke out, RSBN reported.
Twenty hostages were safely returned, the last known survivors of the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack that triggered the war. Israel also freed nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners in a peace deal brokered by the Trump administration.
Despite the tentative ceasefire, Hamas has supposedly still been killing people in Gaza, per RSBN. President Trump issued strong statements on the matter, warning Hamas that they would die if they continued this course of action.
“If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the Deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them,” he wrote on Truth Social. “Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
