White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt took the podium on Tuesday at the White House, touching on a wide range of subjects largely related to Operation Epic Fury, but it was her comments about this year’s tax season that stood out.

Leavitt cited new information just released from the U.S. Treasury Department, noting that nearly 63.5 million tax returns had already been processed thus far, amounting to 45 percent of the total anticipated number of filings by April 15.

Leavitt noted that the total average refund this year for Americans, thanks to President Donald Trump’s massive tax cuts implemented in the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” has clocked in at just over $3,700.

“Americans are going to start benefiting from the fruits of President Trump and Republicans’ labor through the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill and these historic tax cuts,” Leavitt said.

The press secretary said that more than 27.5 million Americans who have filed their tax returns so far have claimed “at least one of President Trump’s new tax cuts.”

Here’s the data, according to the U.S. Treasury:

  • Over 3.5 million returns have claimed “No Tax on Tips,”
  • Over 15.5 million returns have claimed “No Tax on Overtime,”
  • Over 9.2 million returns have claimed the enhanced deduction for seniors,
  • Over 690,000 returns have claimed no tax on car loan interest.

Leavitt additionally highlighted another huge win for the Trump administration: more than 3.5 million “Trump Accounts” have been opened for American children since the launch of the high-profile investment accounts.

“I know the Treasury Department continues to look forward to seeing these checks go out the door and into the pockets of hardworking Americans, and the president will be meeting with them himself tomorrow on the road in both Ohio and Kentucky,” Leavitt added.

On Wednesday, President Trump will visit both states to tout his economic agenda and visit two different American companies.

Leavitt also noted that the president will sign “several executive orders” on Friday, but released no additional details at this time.
