The Hawkeye State appears to be perched on the brink of an overwhelming landslide victory in the Iowa caucuses for President Donald Trump, according to the latest polling data.
Ahead of the Jan. 15, 2024, Iowa caucuses, Trump is holding a dominating 36-point lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), who has run into serious trouble over the past few weeks as he has continued to lose widespread GOP support (data via CBS News).
In the CBS poll, DeSantis had 22 percent support against Trump’s 58 percent, representing an impressive gap for Trump in Iowa. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley was third in their poll, with 13 percent of support.
The countdown to the Iowa caucuses brings good news for Trump, who has strongly been encouraging his supporters to show up and caucus for his campaign on Jan. 15, stressing the importance of showing up in “BIG” numbers.
During a rally last week in Coralville, Iowa, he explained, “Pretend we’re one point behind instead of 35 points up. The more we win by, the more we have a voice. Think of it that way. You’ve GOT to get out and VOTE.”
Trump has repeatedly emphasized the importance of his supporters getting to the polls and voting, particularly in the 2024 primaries and in the general election. Complacency is not an option for MAGA voters, based on the president’s comments.
“Even if you think we’re going to win…you’ve got to get out and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE,” he added in Coralville.
President Trump’s campaign has continued to pick up steam in the Hawkeye State, while DeSantis’s campaign appears to be rapidly regressing.
Just last week, DeSantis’s top strategist, Jeff Roe, resigned from his post, following a slew of other high-profile resignations in his super PAC, Never Back Down. With less than a month to go until the caucuses, this seems to foreshadow what could be the midnight hour of the DeSantis presidential campaign.
