Tyler Robinson, the young man accused of assassinating the late and great Charlie Kirk, may soon watch his own parents and romantic partner testify at an upcoming preliminary hearing in May.

According to a new filing made by the defense attorneys, prosecutors plan to call on Robinson’s parents and his romantic partner, Lance Twiggs, per Fox News.

Robinson’s parents were integral in allegedly persuading Robinson to turn himself in to the authorities, just days after the killing of Charlie Kirk last September at Utah Valley University.

The defense team for Robinson has argued that discovery is incomplete, and attorneys also asked the court for a six-month delay for the preliminary hearing, citing the need to review 600,000 files from prosecutors, the outlet reported.

As reported by RSBN, a judge last month denied defense attorneys’ request to remove prosecutors from the Utah County Attorney’s Office. Lawyers for Robinson had alleged a conflict of interest, noting that one of the prosecutor’s children was allegedly on campus at UVU at the time of Kirk’s assassination. The judge did find the claim of a conflict of interest pertinent and denied the motion.

News of potential testimony in Robinson’s trial coincides with a new reported court filing from the defense, arguing that the ATF has been “unable to identify the bullet recovered at autopsy to the rifle allegedly tied to Mr. Robinson.” This filing was made public in a report from the Daily Mail.

This report ignited a firestorm of controversy on social media on Monday. Christian journalist Megan Basham of the Daily Wire described the report as “clickbait trash.”

“Spoke to a LEO who told me fragmentation that makes it impossible to get a match to ANY weapon happens all the time,” she argued.

Chloe Cole, a high-profile 21-year-old de-transitioner and advocate, alleged, “Knew as soon as I saw the headline that people would use this for clickbait bullshit. The bullet fragmented once it hit his spine, rendering it much harder to match. The evidence, including chat messages and DNA on the rifle, overwhelmingly points to Robinson being the culprit.”

It remains to be seen whether the defense for Tyler Robinson will be successful in delaying the preliminary hearing.
