Governor Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., addressed President Donald J. Trump’s seemingly impending arrest at the behest of the Manhattan district attorney’s office during a press conference on Monday.
“…I don’t know what’s going to happen,” he stated, “but I do know this, though. The Manhattan district attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor. And so, he, like other Soros-funded prosecutors, weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety.”
DeSantis’s statement was in response to a question from the press regarding whether he would have any role in Trump’s potential extradition to New York in the event that charges were brought against the president.
For reference, President Trump lives in Palm Beach, Florida, at Mar-a-Lago.
The governor continued, “He [Alvin Bragg] has downgraded over 50 percent of the felonies to misdemeanors. He says he doesn’t even want to have jail time for the vast, vast majority of crimes and what we’ve seen in Manhattan, is we’ve seen the crime rate go up, and we’ve seen citizens become less safe.”
DeSantis’s comments came after a full weekend of tense speculation surrounding Trump’s confirmation that he would likely be arrested this week. As previously reported by RSBN, Trump decried the “EVIL & SINISTER PEOPLE” prompting this legal attack against him, urging Americans on Truth Social to “PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!”
The Manhattan DA’s office is reportedly seeking to bring charges against Trump for his alleged role in paying adult actress Stormy Daniels “hush money” in 2016, per RSBN.
“They are MANY years beyond the Statute of Limitations which, in this instance, is TWO YEARS,” Trump stated on Monday morning. “More importantly, THERE WAS NO CRIME!!!”
Gov. DeSantis steered clear of addressing the potential charges, focusing on the district attorney’s office. He continued, “Look, I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair. I can’t speak to that. But what I can speak to is that if you have a prosecutor, who is ignoring crimes happening every single day in his jurisdiction, and he chooses to go back many, many years ago to try to use something about porn star hush money payments, you know, that’s an example of pursuing a political agenda and weaponizing the office.”
He also called the Soros-funded district attorneys “a menace to society” and added that he was the “only governor in the country who actually removed one from office during my term here.”
Gov. DeSantis concluded, “…We are not involved in this, [we] won’t be involved in this. I have no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus by some Soros DA. He’s trying to do a political spectacle, he’s trying to virtue signal to his base…I’ve got to spend my time on issues that actually matter to people. I can’t spend my time worrying about things of that nature. So, we’re not going to be involved in it in any way. I’m fighting for Floridians and I’m fighting back against Biden. That’s what I do every single day.”
