DeSantis blasts comparisons of Jan. 6 to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks

Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., on Thursday blasted the liberal media’s attempts to draw comparisons between Jan. 6 and Sept. 11 on the anniversary of the riot on Capitol Hill.

During a press conference, the governor said, “Let’s just be clear here: When they try to act like this is something akin to the September 11 attacks, that is an insult to the people that were going into those buildings.”

The governor’s words echo the voice of millions of Americans who have expressed outrage for the left’s outrageous comparison of the Jan. 6 protests to the horrific 9/11 attacks.

DeSantis addressed the real reason Democrat lawmakers are holding special events today, saying, “You’re going to see the D.C./New York media, this is their Christmas, Jan. 6.” He added, “They are going to take this and milk this for anything they could to smear anyone who ever supported Donald Trump.”

Multiple Democrats have attempted to draw comparisons between Jan. 6 and 9/11 throughout the past year. During a speech on the anniversary of Jan. 6, Kamala Harris said, “Dates that occupy not only a place on our calendars, but a place in our collective memory: December 7, 1941, September 11, 2001, and January 6, 2021.”

Harris’ remarks were immediately called out on social media as extremely disrespectful and her comparison between Jan. 6 and 9/11 was highly criticized. Washington Examiner’s Jerry Dunleavy tweeted a scathing rebuke of Harris’ inadequate comparison, saying “It wasn’t comparable to Pearl Harbor nor comparable to 9/ll. Obviously.”

Republican leaders have been quick to call out the way Democrats have been politicizing Jan. 6, but Democrats have continued to push their narrative and show no signs of stopping until they have concluded their smear campaign of President Donald Trump’s legacy.

Over the past year, Democrats have imprisoned Trump supporters for their alleged involvement in the Jan. 6 riot and even denied Republican lawmakers access to viewing the prison conditions. The highly partisan 1/6 House committee also continues to use American taxpayer’s money to fund their “witch hunt.”

Although President Trump called for a peaceful protest and an immediate end to the violence on Jan. 6, the media has continued to push the narrative that Trump incited an insurrection.

On Thursday, Trump wrote in a statement:

“This political theater is all just a distraction for the fact Biden has completely and totally failed. Our Country no longer has Borders, has totally and completely lost control of Covid (record numbers!), is no longer Energy Independent, Inflation is rampant, our Military is in chaos, and our exit, or surrender, from Afghanistan was perhaps the most embarrassing day in the long and distinguished history of the United States—and so much more.”

Democrats have used the issue of the Capitol riot to distract Americans from meaningful current events for an entire year and show no signs of stopping.

As Gov. DeSantis pointed out in his press conference, the liberal media only reports stories that benefit Democrats. Instead of remembering Jan. 6 for what it really was, a protest against election fraud, the media would rather use it as an opportunity to smear the reputation of the 45th president and millions of his supporters.
