Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis delivered an impassioned victory speech Tuesday night, thanking voters for a “historic, landslide victory.”

“We’re still tallying the votes, but it’s clearly apparent that this election, we will have garnered a significant number of votes from people who may not have bored for me four years ago,” DeSantis said, “and I just want to let you know, I am honor to have earned your trust and your support over these four years.”

Per the Fox News Decision Desk, with 88 percent of the vote in on Tuesday night, DeSantis held an astounding 19-point lead over his Democrat challenger, Rep. Charlie Crist. Further, the governor managed to defeat Crist in multiple traditionally blue counties, including Miami-Dade County and Palm Beach County.

In his remarks, the governor attributed the win to his policy positions, noting that while other states chose to limit residents’ rights during the Covid pandemic, “Florida held the line” for freedom.

“We chose facts over fear; we chose education over indoctrination; we chose law and order over rioting and disorder,” he said. “Florida was a refuge of sanity when the world went mad. We stood as a citadel of freedom for people across this country and, indeed, across the world.”

Stating that his administration had kept its promises, DeSantis added, “Today, after four years, the people have delivered their verdict: Freedom is here to stay.”

In addition to thanking the voters and his wife, Casey DeSantis, for their support, the governor also took the opportunity to clarify once and for all that Florida is not a woke-friendly state.

“We fight the woke in the legislature; we fight the woke in the schools; we fight the woke in the corporations,” he said. “We will never, ever surrender to the woke mob. Florida is where woke goes to die.”

Touting Florida’s success as proof that “traditional American principles” are what make the American Dream possible, DeSantis added: “We offer a ray of hope that better days still lie ahead. I am proud of our achievements in this state. I am honored by your support, and I look forward to the road ahead.”
