Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., recently slammed the FBI, pointing out the double standard after President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home raid.
During his speech at Turning Point Action’s “Unite and Win” rally last weekend, the governor focused on the federal government’s blatant political persecution of Trump and Republicans.
“These agencies have now been weaponized to be used against people that the government doesn’t like. And you look at the raid at Mar-a-Lago. I’m trying to remember. Maybe someone here can remind me about when they did a search warrant at Hillary’s house?” DeSantis claimed. “I do remember them manufacturing a false conspiracy theory about Russia collusion. I remember that. That was not true. That was an abuse of power.”
“They’re enforcing the law based on who they like and who they don’t like. That is not a republic. Well, maybe it’s a banana republic when that happens.”
The governor reacted promptly, denouncing the “Regime’s” Trump raid shortly after the FBI stormed through the 45th president’s private residence in Palm Beach, Florida, last week.
“The raid of MAL is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves,” DeSantis wrote on Twitter.
What appears to be a tactical effort to diminish Trump’s political popularity and tarnish his chances of presidential reelection has backfired.
Eric Trump, son of President Trump, announced that fundraising went through the roof following the FBI’s raid.
“Breaking: DonaldJTrump.com is shattering all fundraising records and I’m told has raised more money in the past 24 hours than ever before in recent history!” Eric Trump wrote on Twitter. “The American people are pissed!”
Moreover, a recent Morning Consult and Politico poll conducted following the raid revealed that a mind-boggling 71 percent of Republican voters wish to see Trump run for president in 2024, referring to the number as a “record-high.”
