‘Fake News!’… More than 75% of Americans don’t trust the mainstream media

Over 76 percent of Americans do not trust the mainstream media, and believe their primary goal is to advance a political agenda instead of reporting the truth.

A Trafalgar Group and Convention of States Action poll reported that 76.3 percent of Americans, including 62.7 percent of Democrats, think the mainstream media reports opinions instead of facts.

A majority of Democrats not trusting the media is a surprising figure, since most mainstream media outlets, like CNN, NBC, MSNBC, and CBS are left-wing outlets.

Just 37 percent of Democrats said they thought the mainstream media reported “the facts,” according to the poll.

Republicans distrust the media by a nine to one ratio, according to the poll, as well as 76 percent of Independents.

According to the Trafalgar poll, more than 76 percent of Americans do not trust the mainstream media.

“People are realizing the open bias and partisanship of the press, and it is making them increasingly cynical,” said Convention of States Action President Mark Meckler.

Outlets often air anti-Trump hit pieces on their networks, bashing him and his family while simultaneously airing puff coverage for Joe Biden and Democrats.

For months, the media aired nonstop negative coverage of Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower in 2016, saying the two may have discussed colluding with Russia to win Trump Sr. the 2016 election, despite Robert Mueller’s report saying there was no collusion.

However, the media aired virtually no coverage of Joe and Hunter Biden’s suspicious business dealings with Ukraine, despite that “quid pro quo” is exactly what they accused Trump of doing.

CNN aired a two minute segment in May 2017 attacking President Trump for reportedly receiving two scoops of ice cream during desert at the White House when his guests only received one.

In May 2017, CNN aired a two minute segment attacking Trump for eating two scoops of ice cream while everyone else got only one scoop.

Journalists went berserk after the bombshell report that Trump enjoyed two scoops of vanilla, but they weren’t bothered by Biden’s two-scoop ice cream eating habits.

CBS News aired light-hearted coverage of Biden’s trip to a Michigan ice cream store in July. Biden received no scrutiny for ordering two scoops of vanilla with chocolate chips.

In May 2021, MSNBC aired a three minute light-hearted segment dissecting the history of Biden eating ice cream.

Trump has frequently called out members of the mainstream media for their unfair coverage of him, even coining the phrase “fake news,” which he as used as a label for several networks, particularly CNN.

During a January 2017 press conference, then-President-elect Trump called CNN “fake news,” and called out CNN reporter Jim Acosta, saying that the organization was “terrible.”

“You are fake news,” Trump told Acosta before moving on to another question.
