President Donald Trump’s pick for chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) made clear that diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives will not be welcomed at the agency under his leadership.

Carr, who has sat on the commission since he was appointed by President Trump in 2017, has fought against agency overreach during the Biden administration.

His commitment to the Constitution is likely one of many reasons why Trump nominated him for chairman.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Carr shared a photo of one of the agency’s current “strategic goals,” which is to “Promote Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility.”

He captioned the post with, “The FCC’s most recent budget request said that promoting DEI was the agency’s second highest strategic goal. Starting next year, the FCC will end its promotion of DEI.”

In a follow-up post, Carr shared the viral clip of Argentina’s new President, Javier Milei, when he ripped names of unnecessary agencies and agendas from a bulletin board to show he would do away with them in the Argentinian government.

Carr pointedly wrote, “When it comes to the FCC’s promotion of DEI, I have just one thing to say: Afuera!,” which means “out” in English.

Carr has also been outspoken against the Biden administration’s collusion with big tech to censor Americans and has vowed to squash the “censorship cartel.”

On Sunday, Carr previewed an FCC under his leadership in another post on X. “We must dismantle the censorship cartel and restore free speech rights for everyday Americans,” he wrote.

In Carr’s nomination announcement, President Trump listed why he chose him for the job. “Commissioner Carr is a warrior for free speech and has fought against the regulatory lawfare that has stifled Americans’ freedoms and held back our economy,” he wrote.

Trump continued, “He will end the regulatory onslaught that has been crippling America’s job creators and innovators and ensure that the FCC delivers for rural America.”

Carr has also spoken out against the FCC’s apparent targeting of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.

When Musk was working to acquire Twitter, Carr fought vigorously against calls for the FCC to block the purchase.
