Filipino Americans in support of President Donald Trump at the Prescott Valley rally on Sunday spoke the truth about the importance of entering the United States as a legal immigrant.
One Filipino American for Trump rallyoger passionately said, “It’s not fair, especially for us that came here legally and we would give care to patients. If you think about taxes, we are paying for all of this. Prioritizing the illegals is not good. You have to come here legally”
Filipino Americans historically immigrated to the United States as highly skilled overseas workers, including nurses, to meet the demand of the shortages of nurses due to the rising aging population in the U.S.
CGFNS International reported Filipinos make up the largest population of foreign-born nurses abroad in the U.S. To legally obtain a green card and work authorization as a nurse, Filipinos must undergo a minimum three-year employment-based (EB-3) visa process for Schedule A occupations.
Immigration remains one of the most important issues for the Asian American community. According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, Asian Americans prioritize highly skilled workers obtaining a green card legally through employment-based immigration at 86%, while 62% of Asian Americans are in favor of “increasing deportations of immigrants currently in the country illegally.”
Trump fully supports legal immigration as the backbone of the U.S. economy. A vote for Trump for the Asian American community will preserve the integrity of legal immigration process, while he will close down the U.S.’s southern border to ensure safety in the streets again.
