Former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr bent the knee to MAGA with his recent endorsement of President Donald Trump, despite criticizing the 45th president on numerous occasions, prompting a swift and facetious response from the man himself.

On Truth Social, President Trump wrote, “Wow! Former A.G. Bill Barr, who let a lot of great people down by not investigating Voter Fraud in our Country, has just Endorsed me for President despite the fact that I called him ‘Weak, Slow Moving, Lethargic, Gutless, and Lazy’ (New York Post!).”

He added, “Based on the fact that I greatly appreciate his wholehearted Endorsement, I am removing the word ‘Lethargic’ from my statement. Thank you Bill. MAGA2024!”

Barr’s endorsement, of course, was anything but “wholehearted” this week during an interview on America’s Newsroom. “I’ve said all along, given two bad choices, I think it’s my duty to pick the person I think would do the least harm to the country,” he stated.

Barr said that he would be voting Republican, despite the fact that he thought Trump was playing “Russian roulette” in 2024.

On Fox News, Barr responded to his own previous criticism of Trump, which has been intensely harsh. He explained, “I don’t think Biden should be anywhere near the Oval Office…again, today, this is a question of comparison.”

Barr has previously declined to offer his support for Trump’s candidacy in 2024, and has publicly supported the federal cases aimed at the 45th president.

“I don’t know of any attorney general who could walk away from it,” he told the outlet in 2023, referring to the “classified documents” case that has garnered so much media attention.

President Trump has stated that Barr never had the courage to investigate reports of election fraud in the wake of the 2020 election. “His bravado changed rapidly because he didn’t want to be Impeached,” he wrote last year, via HuffPost.
