Convention of States Action and Trafalgar Group released data Tuesday morning showing Republicans with a massive lead over Democrats in the 2022 midterms.
The two organizations in February surveyed likely voters regarding the upcoming midterm elections. Polling results give Republicans a nearly 13-point advantage over Democrats in the 2022 midterms.
The latest Trafalgar survey shows 54.4 percent of voters prefer Republican candidates, while only 41.9 percent of voters prefer Democrat candidates. An additional 3.7 percent of voters remained undecided in the poll.
The poll also found that 81 percent of likely voters are confident that Republicans will attempt to block or undo the Biden administration’s agenda if they retake the House and Senate. This will be a key message Republican candidates will have to continue expressing if they want to convince the American people to elect Republican leadership.
The results of the Trafalgar poll highlight the Republican Party’s commanding lead over the Democrat Party in the 2022 midterms. According to the data presented in the poll, the GOP’s lead is continuing to grow from the 10-point lead Republicans held in November. A Gallup poll released in January also showed that Americans shifted their political party preference from Democrat to Republican by a 14-point swing during 2021.
Republicans have not had this strong of a chance to overwhelmingly retake the House and the Senate in the midterms since the 1990s. Once they win, they must provide a referendum on the Biden administration’s disastrous agenda for Americans.
Democrats are in a difficult situation heading into the 2022 midterms. Biden’s low approval rating, unconstitutional mandates, the border crisis, record inflation, critical race theory, the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, and the threat of both Russia and China’s aggression all present troubling issues for Democrat candidates running against a field of America First Republican candidates.
While the poll released by the Convention of States Action and Trafalgar Group provides encouragement for the Republican Party, Republican candidates will need to press home their advantage if they want to regain power in the legislature.
