Sparking speculation, Rep. Clay Higgins, R-La., made a prediction that sent shockwaves across the internet amid Speaker Mike Johnson’s release of the Jan. 6, 2021, footage.
“Prepare to be shocked,” Higgins wrote Friday night on X, “This release will reveal the insidious truth that the left and the corrupt officials at FBI/DOJ do NOT want Americans to see.”
Higgins ominously predicted that “No less than 5-10 key Democrats will announce they’re retiring from Congress.”
“Don’t doubt me,” he added.
The congressman’s post on X followed Johnson’s release of 44,000 hours of Jan. 6 footage to the American public, which journalists have only begun to dig through.
Thus far, surfaced footage has shown protestors walking calmly through the halls of the Capitol, officers giving fist bumps and handshakes to protestors, and other scenes that counter the left’s narrative.
While Higgins did not name which Democrats may step down or retire, it is possible that it might include names from the Democrat-led Select Committee on Jan. 6 if his prediction comes to fruition. Those who sat on the committee include Reps. Bennie Thompson, Zoe Lofgren, Pete Aguilar, Stephanie Murphy, Jamie Raskin, Elaine Luria, Liz Cheney, and Adam Kingzinger.
