After fighting an impeachment trial this week, which he won, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has hinted at some major plans for his future, which include running for Senate in 2026.
Paxton has been facing multiple attacks this year in the form of an impeachment trial as well as suspension, but this has not slowed him down. Paxton’s legal battles echo that of President Trump, who, too, has been fighting ongoing sham indictments from political opposition.
In his official statement that RSBN reported, Paxton wrote, “The weaponization of the impeachment process to settle political differences is not only wrong. It is immoral and corrupt.”
Instead of being downtrodden against the ongoing attacks, Paxton has hinted at some major plans. In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Paxton hinted that he may potentially run for Senate to replace Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas.
The Washington Examiner reported what Paxton said about Cornyn’s performance as senator. He said, “I can’t think of a single thing he’s accomplished for our state or even for the country, let alone the fact that we have a massive invasion into our state, and he doesn’t speak out against it.” Paxton refers to the current border crisis the state of Texas is battling due to Biden’s failing border policies.
When asked whether he intends to run for Senate, Paxton told Carlson, as reported by Politico, “I think it’s time somebody needs to step up and run against this guy that will do the job and do it the right way and represent us and worry about what’s going on.”
While the impeachment trial may be over, and Paxton remains attorney general of Texas, his legal battles are still ongoing as he will attend another October hearing over a fraud indictment. Referencing this hearing, Paxton told Carlson, “I think if they could, they’d put me in jail. I don’t think they’re going to stop.”
