It’s only the second day of President Trump’s criminal trial in New York City, but already Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg seems to be doing everything he can to make the process as miserable as possible for the 45th president.

On Tuesday, Fox News reported that the DA had filed a motion to hold Trump in contempt of court. Per the outlet, “they have made it official to try and hold Donald Trump in contempt for violating the gag order that was put onto him by the judge.”

Trump would reportedly be fined $1,000 per allegation of violating the gag order, which has barred him from speaking out about witnesses in the case, prosecutors, and court officials or their families.

Going into Tuesday’s trial day, Trump took a massive swing at Judge Merchan over the gag order in question, writing on Truth Social that the “Trump Hating Judge” wouldn’t allow him to defend himself against “people that are on TV lying and spewing hate all day long.”

He continued, “The New York System of ‘Justice’ is being decimated by critics from all over the World. I want to speak, or at least be able to respond. Election Interference! RIGGED, UNCONSTITUTIONAL TRIAL! Take off the Gag Order!!!”

Per Fox, Bragg’s motion to hold Trump in contempt of court is based upon posts that he made on Truth Social concerning Michael Cohen and Stormy Daniels.

The motion stated:

“It is absolutely critical that defendant immediately halt any conduct that would violate the April 1 order’s narrow restrictions to protect the integrity of the ongoing trial. A finding of criminal contempt, imposition of sanctions, and stark warnings from this Court are the minimum remedies necessary to achieve this indispensable objective.”

Yesterday, Judge Merchan threatened President Trump with jail time if he failed to appear in court for even one day of the ongoing trial in New York, per RSBN.

Trump has stated that because of this, he will likely miss the high school graduation of his son, Barron Trump, as well as next week’s arguments at the U.S. Supreme Court on the issue of presidential immunity, which could potentially free Trump from the ongoing and relentless legal prosecution that he’s facing on all fronts.
