Former Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz has been appointed to the Triumph Gulf Coast Inc. Board of Directors.

Gaetz announced the news on Tuesday in a post on X, stating, “I am returning to public service!”

He thanked Florida House Speaker Daniel Perez for the opportunity and added, “I look forward to the work ahead as we continue improving the lives of Northwest Floridians.”

Gaetz was a vocal America First leader who stepped away from his role in Congress to become President Trump’s Attorney General after the 47th president’s victory in November of 2024. Unverifiable claims were made against Gaetz, ultimately leading him to withdraw his name from consideration, according to Red State.

Gaetz has since been hosting his own show with the One America News Network (OAN). Now he will return to public service, guiding the nonprofit organization created to distribute 75 percent of the funds recovered by the Florida Attorney General’s office. Triumph Gulf Coast Inc. was officially formed in 2017 to disperse the funds recovered from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill settlement. Since that time, the board has approved over 300 grant requests and funded infrastructure, education, and career training in addition to ongoing hurricane recovery projects.
