The House voted to hold U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress on Wednesday afternoon.

Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., commented on the victory, stating, “Garland has refused to release the Hur tapes. Garland has defied a Congressional subpoena. Garland will be referred for prosecution.”

“Government must put the AMERICAN PEOPLE FIRST, not politics,” he added.

RSBN reported that Garland refused to comply with congressional subpoenas regarding the Biden classified documents investigation. The vote now makes him the third U.S. Attorney General to be held in contempt of Congress.

Before the vote, Speaker Mike Johnson noted on X, “This week, Attorney General Merrick Garland will be held in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a lawful subpoena.”

He shared a clip discussing the importance of House oversight responsibilities.

“We cannot allow the Department of Justice to hide information from Congress,” Johnson concluded.
