New testimony from the Section Chief of the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF), Laura Dehmlow, has revealed that the FBI “knew that the laptop belonging to Hunter Biden was not Russian disinformation,” a new letter from the House Oversight Committee stated.

On Thursday, the committee released the letter, spearheaded by Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, that was sent to FBI Director Christopher Wray that detailed the revelations of this transcribed interview with Dehmlow.

In the interview, she alleged that the same FBI personnel who were “warning social media companies about a potential Russian ‘hack and leak’ operation in the run-up to the 2020 election” understood Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop was authentic.

The letter additionally explained, “After the New York Post broke a story based on the contents of the laptop about Biden family influence peddling, the FBI made the institutional decision to refuse to answer direct questions from social media companies about the laptop’s authenticity – despite months of constant information sharing up to that time.”

The contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop have proven to be a thorn in the side of the Biden family. Hunter’s hard drive includes mountains of evidence of alleged foreign business transactions with countries around the world, including Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and CCP-linked companies in China.

The committee’s letter stated that the “FBI confirmed the authenticity of Hunter Biden’s laptop in November 2019 and gained possession of the laptop in December 2019.”

After a meeting between the FBI’s FITF and Twitter, “a decision was made that the FITF would say ‘no comment’ going forward” when asked about the Hunter Biden laptop.

This decision seems to have been part of the reason why Big Tech companies were able to claim that the laptop itself may have been inauthentic, although those claims have been debunked by House investigations.

The committee’s letter additionally noted that Twitter blocked the story about Biden’s laptop from being shared and Facebook “deamplified” it in 2020. “…The FBI’s actions prevented millions of Americans from having a clear understanding about a salient issue in the 2020 presidential election,” it stated.
