A series of explosions near the Kabul airport on Thursday have reportedly “resulted in a number of US & civilian casualties,” Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby wrote on Twitter. The number and status of those injured in what are believed to be suicide bombings is unknown at this time.
“We can also confirm at least one other explosion at or near the Baron Hotel, a short distance from Abbey Gate,” Kirby continued. “We will continue to update.”
While some reports have indicated there could be dozens of people injured or killed as a result of the terror attacks, U.S. officials have confirmed at least three U.S. troops were wounded.
Joe Biden has been informed in the situation room that “ISIS is behind the suicide bombing in Kabul,” and more “attacks are imminent,” Newsmax Foreign Correspondent Alex Salvi revealed.
The horrible attacks come within hours of the U.S. Embassy issuing an urgent security alert to all Americans to immediately leave three gates at Kabul airport.
“U.S. citizens who are at the Abbey Gate, East Gate, or North Gate now should leave immediately,” the alert stated.
There are just five days left until the Aug. 31 troop withdrawal deadline. Joe Biden has not yet made a comment regarding the attacks.
