Both Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump took to the press Tuesday afternoon to rip the New York trial against their father, slamming the case as a “political persecution” and “vendetta.”
Trump’s eldest sons, along with his daughter-in-law and co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), Lara Trump, were seen outside of the New York courthouse Tuesday following the beginning of closing arguments in Trump’s case involving alleged falsified business records.
As the three stood in defense of the 45th president, Eric Trump called out the trial for its “legal lawfare,” noting how the Democratic city has been overrun with crimes affecting local residents.
“This is legal lawfare, all while this state absolutely melts. Everybody that sits here right now, every single one of you, knows that this is not the same state that we knew 10 years ago — knows that it’s not the same state as we saw five years ago,” Eric Trump stated.
Trump continued, “You have [the] total degradation of New York state because the only thing that Alvin Bragg wants to do, the only thing Letitia James wants to do is criminally prosecute Donald Trump. They’re doing it for one reason, they’re doing it because they have a political vendetta. They’re all funded by George Soros — that’s what this is.”
Trump’s second oldest son continued to call out how Democrats have continued to attack the 45th president, noting both the legal aspects used as well as the hits on Trump’s family members.
“They tried to impeach him in DC, they tried to impeach him a second time, they went after his Supreme Court justices, they turned the DoJ — they turned the FBI against him. They couldn’t stop him [and] when that didn’t work, guess what they did. They went after his family — they went after me,” Eric Trump stated.
Eric Trump continued, “They went after Don, they went after Lara, they went after little Baron Trump — as a young kid, as a young teenager — they went after Tiffany. They tried to make his life hell. Then they weaponized every single DA, they weaponized every AG in every far left area because Biden is incompetent and he’s losing in all the polls. Across the board, he’s losing in every quantifiable metric.”
Donald Trump Jr. additionally spoke to the press Tuesday afternoon, calling the trial a “witch hunt” as the Biden campaign held a press conference across the street from the courthouse.
“The fact that they are holding a rally across the street from this very witch hunt, right across the street, tells us exactly what we all knew all along. That it is a political persecution, it is a witch hunt. There is a reason one of the people sitting at that desk was the number three person in Joe Biden’s DOJ,” Donald Trump Jr. stated.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg charged Trump with 34 felony counts in regard to alleged falsified business records through payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels.
Prosecutors’ key witness and former Trump attorney, Michael Cohen, claimed during the trial that Trump had allegedly directed him to make payments for a nondisclosure agreement to Daniels and agreed to make the reimbursements back through falsified business records.
During Tuesday’s arguments, the Biden campaign held a press conference with actor Robert De Niro and two police officers who had been at the Capitol on Jan. 6.
While De Niro spoke against supporters of Trump and the 45th president by likening him to a “clown,” he was later heckled as some could be heard calling him “trash” along with other insults.
