UPDATE: Jack Dorsey confirms he is resigning as CEO Twitter effective immediately. He will also step down as a board member at the end of his term in May 2022.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is reportedly stepping down as the company’s top executive, according to early breaking reports from CNBC.
He is expected to make a public announcement regarding the move shortly. It is unknown if his resignation will be effective immediately following his announcement or if it will be in the next term.
As the news broke, chants of “Let’s Go Brandon!” could be heard behind the CNBC news anchor David Faber who first reported the story at the desk on Monday morning.
Twitter stock immediately surged following the news.
Although the exact reasons for Dorsey’s unconfirmed departure from his position as CEO of the company are unclear, Twitter has been in hot water for its unprecedented censorship.
In the most infamous example, Twitter permanently removed President Donald J. Trump’s account while he was a sitting president in January 2021. Promptly following his suspension, many more prominent conservatives were removed, suspended, and shadow banned due to their political beliefs.
This is a developing story.
