President Donald Trump announced that he has formed a “Board of Peace” to manage the Gaza Strip.
“It is my Great Honor to announce that THE BOARD OF PEACE has been formed,” the president announced Thursday in a post to Truth Social.
He continued, “The Members of the Board will be announced shortly, but I can say with certainty that it is the Greatest and Most Prestigious Board ever assembled at any time, any place. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
The move comes days after U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff announced the beginning of phase two of the president’s plan to end the war in Gaza, BBC reported.
According to Witkoff, phase two would see a reconstruction and complete demilitarization of Gaza, including a disarmament of Hamas and other terror networks.
Likewise, the U.S. has sought to hold the first Board of Peace meeting on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum this past week.
The Times of Israel reported that the U.S. previously secured commitments from Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Germany for their leaders to join President Trump on the Board of Peace.
