President Donald Trump held his first press conference after his return to office to announce the Stargate Project, “the largest AI infrastructure in American history,” according to the commander-in-chief. The formation of Stargate will be a joint venture from private investors, including SoftBank, Oracle and OpenAI.
Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son told the press he will be investing $500 billion for the next four years throughout Trump’s second term. The Stargate Project will create 100,000 highly skilled American jobs in AI, data centers and technology.
The Stargate Project also aligns with the president’s strategic initiative for the U.S. to lead the way in the AI industry by surpassing its global competitors, including China and other countries.
According to OpenAI’s announcement, the Stargate Project’s key technology partners include Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle and OpenAI. This ambitious AI project will be headquartered at a giant data center facility in Texas and other potential sites nationwide.
Stargate will lead the way in developing products by integrating AI, such as in the healthcare industry, to streamline the early detection of cancer using AGI.
