President Trump has taken up the fight against a federal judge who is attempting to block the administration’s deportation efforts. U.S. District Judge James Boasberg issued an order over the weekend temporarily blocking the Trump administration from deporting members of the Tren de Aragua gang.
In a Truth social post on Tuesday, President Trump denounced the ruling as an attempt to subvert the will of the voters and called for impeachment of Boasberg. Trump pointed to the political mandate created by his sweeping victory in the November election emphasized the support of the American people for his immigration policies.
“This Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge, a troublemaker and agitator who was sadly appointed by Barack Hussein Obama, was not elected President,” Trump said. “He didn’t WIN the popular VOTE (by a lot!), he didn’t WIN ALL SEVEN SWING STATES, he didn’t WIN 2,750 to 525 Counties, HE DIDN’T WIN ANYTHING! I WON FOR MANY REASONS, IN AN OVERWHELMING MANDATE, BUT FIGHTING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION MAY HAVE BEEN THE NUMBER ONE REASON FOR THIS HISTORIC VICTORY.” Trump said.
The ruling came after Trump administration officials declined to answer questions relating to deportation flights during a hearing on Monday. Trump’s criticism of Boasberg reflects the positions of other in his administration who question whether judicial authority allows for interference with the President’s immigration agenda.
Trump repeated his desire to carry out the will of the people and called for the impeachment of Boasberg.
“I’m just doing what the VOTERS wanted me to do. This judge, like many of the Crooked Judges’ I am forced to appear before, should be IMPEACHED!!!” Trump said. “WE DON’T WANT VICIOUS, VIOLENT, AND DEMENTED CRIMINALS, MANY OF THEM DERANGED MURDERERS, IN OUR COUNTRY. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
Trump’s call for impeachment has found support with other Republican lawmakers. Rep. Brandon Gillis, R-Texas, backed Trump by introducing articles of impeachment against Boasberg on Tuesday. The resolution by Gillis echoed Trump’s position, accusing Boasberg of abusing his power and attempting to interfere with the will of the American people.
