President Trump has reached a partial agreement on a Russian ceasefire in Ukraine following a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. The agreement includes a ceasefire on energy infrastructure in Ukraine, with the ultimate goal of a complete ceasefire between the two countries.

In a Truth Social post, Trump shared his thoughts on the call which he described as a good and productive conversation.

“My phone conversation with President Putin of Russia was a very good and productive one,” Trump said. “We agreed to an immediate Ceasefire on all Energy and Infrastructure, with an understanding that we will be working quickly to have a Complete Ceasefire and, ultimately, an END to this very horrible War between Russia and Ukraine.”

Putin rejected the proposal of a complete ceasefire but has agreed to a limited ceasefire of 30 days. The Kremlin confirmed Russia would halt attacks on energy facilities following Putin’s call with Trump.

Trump continued his statement by pointing out that the war between Russia and Ukraine had resulted in large-scale casualties and expressed his commitment to bringing the conflict to an end as soon as possible.

“This War would have never started if I were President!” Trump said. “Many elements of a Contract for Peace were discussed, including the fact that thousands of soldiers are being killed, and both President Putin and President Zelenskyy would like to see it end.”

Negotiations for a broad cessation of hostilities will continue between the two countries during the 30-day ceasefire. Trump remained hopeful that an agreement could be reached and the war could be brought to a close during the next phase of negotiations.

“That process is now in full force and effect, and we will, hopefully, for the sake of Humanity, get the job done!” Trump said.
