President Donald Trump has been called many things good and bad, but now that he is the first president in U.S. history to be indicted on questionable charges, some are comparing him to former South African leader, Nelson Mandela.

Nelson Mandela openly opposed a biased establishment and was criminally punished for it. He went on to be a great leader and inspire countless people around the world.

Although Trump’s current legal battle hosts different specifics, he has been politically investigated multiple times without being convicted. Now that the Manhattan DA seems determined to punish President Trump, the comparisons are growing more aligned.

On the day of his arraignment, Florida congressional candidate, Lavern Spicer posted, “Today, Trump becomes the new Nelson Mandela.”

She also tweeted a side-by-side picture of Mandela next to Trump.

In addition, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., also compared President Trump to Nelson Mandela in an interview on Tuesday, via the Washington Examiner.

She stated, “President Trump is joining some of the most incredible people in history being arrested today. Nelson Mandela was arrested, served time in prison.”

If convicted, the comparison between President Trump and Nelson Mandela will only grow stronger.
