President Donald Trump’s appearance on Fox News’ “Gutfeld!” on Wednesday evening drew the show’s largest audience since the program debuted three years ago.

During Trump’s appearance “Gutfeld!” averaged 4.9 million viewers. Among adults aged 25 to 54, the show averaged 744,000 in the category, Fox News reported.

The network further added that the show received higher viewership than the CBS premiere of “Survivor” and ABC News’ “The Golden Bachelorette,” which they noted made “Gutfeld!” the most-watched television show during primetime.

During the president’s appearance, which he posted to X, Trump gave further insight into his feelings concerning the second assassination attempt made on his life just days ago.

“Well Mr. P, how’s your golf game?” Greg Gutfeld asked the president.

“Well, I haven’t been thinking about it too much lately,” Trump responded, jokingly quipping that “golf is a very dangerous game.”

“If they had told you that the shooter was there, would you have tried to take him out with your three wood?” Gutfeld said jokingly in response.

“I think so. If I knew,” said Trump. “Actually, the Secret Service did a great job. They saw the barrel of a gun—a big gun—and it came out through bushes. And how many people would see that?”

Secret Service agents spotted a rifle barrel between some of the bushes along Trump’s Palm Beach International Golf Cub, the Associated Press reported. Ryan Wesley Routh, the 58-year-old man apprehended in the assassination attempt, reportedly camped outside the golf course with his rifle for 12 hours before being spotted Sunday afternoon.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw also noted that Trump had been only 300 to 500 yards away from where Routh was allegedly waiting, NPR wrote.

“We’ve been going through a lot of it,” Trump stated, also speaking to the first attempt made on his life during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July. “We’re getting very good at it, but I don’t want to say that too loudly.”

He further noted that being president was a “dangerous job” because “six percent or seven percent” get assassinated.

According to Fox News, the “Gutfeld!” appearance marked President Trump’s first interview on a broadcast or cable late-night show during an election cycle since appearing on NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” in 2016.
