During President Trump’s arrival in China for the historic two-day summit, the Chinese military band played the Star-Sprangled banner.
Breitbart reported that videos captured the moment President Trump greeted Chinese Dictator Xi Jinping outside the Great Hall of the People in Tiananmen Square at 10:00 a.m. Beijing time. Together, the pair walked side-by-side to a red dais while the American anthem was played in a show of respect to President Trump. The walk to the red Dais was lined with Chinese schoolchildren waving American and Chinese flags.
Videos also showed President Trump introducing Xi to the American delegation, which included Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, U.S. Trade Representative Jameson Greer, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. Among the delegation were also former White House Deputy Chief of Staff James Blair, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung, and Trump Organization Executive Vice President Eric Trump.
Following the American national anthem, the band played the Chinese national anthem before the pair inspected the Chinese troops. The two-day summit will focus on managing relations between China and America, with talks on trade-war negotiations, the ongoing war in Iran, AI, and tensions with Taiwan. This is a historic visit as it marks the first state visit to China from a U.S. president since 2017.
During the opening speech at the state banquet dinner, Xi described the U.S-China relationship as the world’s most consequential. CNN reported that he had said, “Today, President Trump and I had in-depth exchanges on China-US relations and international and regional dynamics.” He also added, “We both believe that the China-US relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world. We must make it work and never mess it up.”
However, RSBN reported that Xi warned that if the U.S. clashed over Taiwan, it could negatively affect the relationship between the two countries. Xi said, “If mishandled, the two nations could collide or even come into conflict, pushing the entire China-US relationship into a highly perilous situation.”
