The House Oversight Committee announced that it is seeking a transcribed interview from one of the prison guards who was on duty when known sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his jail cell.
The Committee posted the interview request to X, noting that Tova Noel was working at the Metropolitan Correctional Center at the time of Epstein’s death and that they believe she has information regarding the mismanagement of the Epstein investigation.
According to the New York Post, Noel searched Google for information about Epstein less than an hour before he was found dead in his jail cell, also failed to do routine 30-minute checks on the prisoner the day of his death. In addition, 10 days before these actions, Noel made a questionable $5,000 bank deposit.
Noel and the other guard on duty at the time of Epstein’s death, Michael Thomas, admitted to falsifying records after the reported suicide, per the New York Post. Both prison guards lost their jobs and faced criminal charges, which were abated with deals that ordered both to do 100-hours of community service.
House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., affirmed the need for Noel to testify in a post to X. “We believe she may have information relevant to our ongoing Epstein investigation,” he stated. “We look forward to her testimony on March 26.”
