Rep. Byron Donalds, R- Fla., on Monday joined growing calls from the GOP for Joe Biden to resign from office amid the Afghanistan withdrawal crisis.
Biden, Donalds asserted in a press release, “has lost complete and total confidence of the American people through his haphazard decision to withdrawal from Afghanistan.”
“This botched withdrawal is currently threatening the lives of our servicemen and women, the stability in the region, and our integrity on the global stage,” he continued.
Donald’s call for Biden’s resignation echoes those of several other members, including Rep. Ronny Jackson, R- Texas, who also served as the former White House doctor for both President Barack Obama and President Donald Trump, according to the Tampa Free Press.
Jackson called Biden’s decision as Commander-in-Chief to pull troops quickly from Afghanistan a “national embarrassment” and noted that Biden may be cognitively unfit for office.
“He’s not cognitively prepared to be our president. And this is just another example of his failure. And I think a lot of this is relevant to his cognitive ability. But he’s created a national security disaster for this country right now,” he said. “And it’s time for him to move on, and somebody else needs to do this job. He is not fit to be our commander in chief. It’s time for him to resign.”
Sen. Rick Scott, R- Fla., and Rep. Claudia Tenney, R- N.Y., also joined Jackson and Donalds, urging Congress to evoke the 25th Amendment, The Washington Examiner reported.
Others have called for Impeachment, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R- Ga., and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R- S.C.
Along with members of Congress, President Trump notably said Biden should “resign in disgrace” following the Afghanistan withdrawal.
Trump fired off: “It is time.”
