President Donald Trump will reportedly make his way back to New York City for yet another political witch hunt at the behest of New York State Attorney General Letitia James, CBS News reported this week.
The report comes from two people allegedly familiar with the situation who have claimed that President Trump will have to sit for a deposition on Thursday in Manhattan following James’s move to bring a civil case against him and three of his children.
Per RSBN, James brought the suit against Trump and his family in 2022 and is seeking at least $250 million for alleged “fraudulent” business dealings. Further, James has demonstrated a previous public distaste for Trump, which has drawn the ire of critics who have accused her of having politically-charged motivations in bringing the suit against the president.
In November 2022, Trump filed a lawsuit against AG James, citing a “war of intimidation and harassment on President Trump, his family, his business interests, and his associates.”
The suit also noted, “…James has repeatedly abused her position as Attorney General for the State of New York to pursue a relentless, pernicious, public, and unapologetic crusade against President Trump, a resident of Palm Beach County, Florida, with the stated goal of destroying him personally, financially, and politically. Suffice it to say that these actions are contrary to both the laws of New York and Florida.”
Via CBS, Trump appeared for a deposition in this case in August 2022 before it was officially filed. He invoked his Fifth Amendment rights to defend himself in the deposition, as reported by RSBN.
The president’s legal battle with Letitia James comes just one week after he pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of “falsifying” business records following a Manhattan grand jury’s vote to indict him.
Per CBS, the trial date for his civil suit with Letitia James is set for Oct. 2.
