Republican lawmakers and conservative pundits across America have reacted strongly to Joe Biden’s dark and angry speech delivered at Independence Hall on Thursday night. Biden, who delivered his remarks in front of a stage bathed in shocking red and black lighting, attacked President Trump and Republicans who identified as part of the MAGA movement.
“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremist that threatens the very foundations of our Republic,” Biden railed.
Firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., hit back at Biden’s speech on Twitter, pointing out that he had not yet said a word about “politically motivated crimes” perpetrated against her by the Biden administration.
“.@JoeBiden I have not seen you denounce the politically motivated crimes against me that you & your henchmen have caused with your vile disgusting lies projected on me like ‘semi-fascism’ which is exactly what you are.”
Further, Jack Posobiec, the senior editor of Human Events, observed on Twitter, “You realize they want violence, right? Don’t fall for it and play their game[.]”
The Trump-endorsed Republican gubernatorial nominee in Arizona, Kari Lake, slammed Biden on Thursday night for his comments as well, responding to Biden’s remarks that, “MAGA Republicans look at America and see carnage, darkness, and fear.”
“No, Joe,” Lake stated. “We see an exceptional country that you are bringing to its knees.”
Additionally, outspoken Biden critic Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, reacted to Thursday night’s speech on social media, stating, “Tonight, Joe Biden vilified millions of Americans in a divisive & angry speech that was detached from the reality of his political failures. He isn’t actually interested in restoring the soul of the nation, he’s only interested [in] pitting his fellow Americans against one another.”
Former Trump White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, scorched Biden’s remarks as well, lambasting Biden as “Mr. Unity” who gave “the most divisive presidential speech I have ever seen!”
Biden’s speech was extremely aggressive and took specific aim at attacking the political opponents of his administration and their legislative policies. Coming on the heels of the wildly political FBI raid on President Trump’s house in Florida in August, Biden’s tone and message were far from a rallying cry for true unity.
“Last night was designed to provoke you,” wrote Charlie Kirk, the president of Turning Point USA. “Don’t take the bait. Stay peaceful. The regime is desperate.”
