Since President Trump’s historic victory on November 5th, Americans have anxiously awaited and subsequently applauded his choice of cabinet members and other appointments.

Trump chose Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio for Secretary of State, but his current term does not end until 2028.

Rumors have begun swirling about who Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will appoint to fill Rubio’s seat.

Senior Florida Republican Senator Rick Scott predicted on Tuesday that DeSantis will choose Republican National Committee (RNC) Co-Chair Lara Trump as Rubio’s replacement.

During an interview with “The Hill” on NewsNation, Scott said, “I think Lara Trump is the right person to replace him. He’s going to be hard to replace. I met her back when she worked at E Network and she is a hard worker; she is committed.”

Scott elaborated further on Lara Trump’s qualifications. “You watch what she did at the RNC this election cycle, what a great job she did on election security, making sure we got the vote out. I think she’ll be a great partner, and I look forward to serving with her,” Scott said.

He emphasized the magnitude of hand-selecting someone to fill one of just 100 seats in Congress’s upper chamber. “It’s an important decision, and I think he’s going to pick Lara Trump because he knows she is clearly qualified,” Scott remarked.

Shortly after Trump chose Rubio, Scott began voicing his support for Lara Trump. In a post on X, Scott posted a photo of Lara Trump and asked his followers to “RT” if they thought “she should be Florida’s next Senator!”

The Hill reported that its sources said that DeSantis’s chief of staff was on the short-list, in addition to Florida’s lieutenant governor and attorney general. The source reportedly told the outlet, “Our governor has not gotten a call about appointing Lara.”

During a recent interview with Sean Hannity, Lara Trump said, “If I am able to serve, I would love to serve the people of Florida.” She noted that she had lived in Florida for three years now and told Hannity that it “would be incredible” to be given the opportunity.
