Republican Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake wrote a letter thanking Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney for helping her campaign donations skyrocket after she gave Lake her “anti-endorsement” in a new ad in Arizona.

As the Epoch Times reported, on Monday, Lake announced that her campaign raised over $500,000, which she credited to Cheney following the release of an ad targeting Lake and Republican candidate for Arizona secretary of state, Mark Finchem.

“THANK YOU, LIZ! After losing her election, @Liz_Cheney pledged to do everything she can to defeat @KariLake When she came out against us, we raised over $500K! That makes Liz my BIGGEST fundraiser!” Lake wrote on Twitter.

The Hill reported that Cheney’s leadership PAC released a 30-second ad where the congresswoman states she would rather vote for a Democrat than vote for Lake and Finchem.

“I don’t know that I have ever voted for a Democrat. But if I lived in Arizona, I absolutely would. You have a candidate for governor, Kari Lake, you have a candidate for secretary of State, Mark Finchem, both of whom have said that they will only honor the results of an election if they agree with it,” Cheney said in the ad.

“And if you care about the survival of our Republic, we cannot give people power who will not honor elections. We must have elected officials who honor that responsibility,” she added.

While Cheney’s efforts sought to impact Lake’s campaign negatively, they backfired as supporters rushed to support Lake.

Lake expressed her gratitude towards Cheney on Friday, thanking Cheney for being her “biggest fundraiser yet,” announcing that her “campaign donations are skyrocketing and our website nearly crashed from traffic,” following the congresswoman’s ad, The Hill noted.

The letter posted on Lake’s official Twitter account and addressed to Cheney stated:

“Thank you for your generous in-kind contribution to my campaign. Your recent television ad urging Arizonans not to vote for me is doing just the opposite. Our campaign donations are skyrocketing and our website nearly crashed from traffic as people rushed to learn more about my plan to put Arizona First and join our historic political movement.

In fact, my team tells me your commercial should add another 10 points to our lead! I guess that’s why they call the Cheney anti-endorsement the gift that keeps on giving. While we appreciate your in-kind contribution, the $500,000 ad buy likely exceeds Arizona’s $5,300 individual contribution limit. Thank you again for the huge boost to our campaign! Enjoy your forced retirement from politics. I know America will rest easier knowing that one more warmonger is out of office.”

Lake’s campaign boost comes as she maintains an 11-point gap, leading her Democrat challenger Katie Hobbs by 54-43, a recent FOX 10 InsiderAdvantage poll shows.
