The Trump campaign released a video on Wednesday criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris’ new tax plan, arguing she will raise taxes for American families already struggling with the high cost of living.

Earlier this year, Harris doubled down on plans to scrap President Donald Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that brought much-needed tax cuts for individuals and businesses. The Hill reported in June that Harris wanted the country to “get rid of the whole thing.”

In place of Trump’s tax laws, Harris plans to raise taxes by introducing new tax credits and incentives, according to the Trump campaign. Harris says she plans to boost the economy when, in reality, she’s boosting how much the average American will pay in taxes.

Reuters reported that behind the scenes, Harris has already begun putting her plan into motion by quietly endorsing a nearly staggering $5 trillion in tax hikes. The plan for the 2025 budget proposal would raise the top income tax from 37 percent to just over 39 percent.

It’s not just income tax that will be raised but also corporate income tax, which will increase from 21 percent to 28 percent. The Tax Foundation pointed out that these tax hikes would be more harmful to workers. These tax hikes would mean lower wages for workers.

Trump’s latest campaign ad reveals this plan for all to see. The ad contained quotes from The New York Times which read, “Harris is seeking to significantly raise taxes,” and a clip of Harris herself saying “taxes are gonna have to go up.”

The ad also points out that Harris’ plan will raise American taxes by nearly $2600 a year in addition to the current 19.4 percent price increase under the Biden-Harris administration.

Trump’s campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “Kamala Harris voted against the Trump Tax Cuts and says she wants to get rid of them. Even the New York Times admitted that the Trump Tax Cuts helped most Americans.”

Leavitt added, “If Americans want to pay fewer taxes and have more money in their pockets, the only option is to vote for President Trump.”
