President Donald Trump is not ceding territory in the battle to reclaim the White House as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has officially entered the presidential race this week.
Shortly after DeSantis announced his presidential candidacy online during a Twitter Spaces with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
He also shared a campaign video that took aim at Gov. DeSantis, attacking “Washington establishment politicians” who “like to talk” about how they can be like Donald Trump.
“The truth? There’s only ONE Donald Trump. Only one who gave us the largest tax cuts in history, who gave vets the healthcare they deserved, and stood up to China, and protected your job,” the ad pointed out.
“Why would we ever settle for Trump imposters, when there’s only one starting day one, who can make America great AGAIN?” the ad hammered home.
The video included clips of Gov. DeSantis’s long-ago campaign video, in which he is seen building a “wall” with his children and holding a Trump sign that says, “Make America Great Again.”
“I’d like to personally congratulate ‘Rob’ DeSanctimonious on finally announcing that he will be entering the race for President of the United States,” Trump wrote on Wednesday.
He continued, “Hopefully he will get the full experience of being attacked by the Marxists, Communists, and Radical Left Lunatics of our Country, without which he will never know the kind of job he is doing. These Lowlifes & Misfits are far worse than the leaders of hostile foreign countries. They must be soundly defeated in order to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Trump additionally released a scathing attack against DeSantis in a new video, where he stated that in December 2017, the then-gubernatorial candidate was polling at just 5 percent in his race.
“DeSantis had virtually no endorsements and was being drastically outraised by Agricultural Commissioner Adam Putnam,” he said.
Trump endorsed DeSantis not long after, and his poll numbers skyrocketed, launching him to victory in the Sunshine State.
“Thank you very much, Ron, thank you very much,” Trump stated facetiously.
In yet another video, Trump added, “When the Ron DeSanctimonious facts come out, you will see that he is better than most Democrat governors, but very average, at best, compared to Republican governors who have done a fantastic job.”
