President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he will receive the first physical of his second term on Friday at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
The president shared the health update in a post to his Truth Social account on Monday.
“I am pleased to report that my long scheduled Annual Physical Examination will be done at Walter Reed Army Medical Center on Friday of this week. I have never felt better, but nevertheless, these things must be done!” Trump wrote.
The president, 78, will undergo the evaluation as part of an annual checkup traditionally conducted at the location by each sitting president.
Trump previously posted a letter to social media following his November election victory from Morristown Medical Group Dr. Bruce Aronwald, which noted the president’s health as “excellent.”
“I am pleased to report that President Trump’s overall health is excellent,” Aronwald wrote. “His physical exams were well within the normal range, and his cognitive exams were exceptional.”
“It is my opinion that President Trump is currently in excellent health, and with his continued interest in preventative health monitoring and maintenance, he will continue to enjoy a healthy active lifestyle for years to come,” Aronwald added.
Former President Joe Biden last released results from his annual physical in February 2024 under controversy over concerns of cognitive issues.
“President Biden is a healthy, active, robust, 81-year-old male who remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency,” Biden’s physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor said at the time.
“An extremely detailed neurologic exam was again reassuring in that there were no findings which would be consistent with any cerebellar or other central neurological disorder, such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s or ascending lateral sclerosis,” his report read.
The White House also noted that Biden had a verbal check-in with doctors about twice per week during his presidency.
“The president’s medical unit is literally down on the other side of the [White House] Colonnade,” Biden’s press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters. “It’s just down the steps from the residence. And so, a couple times a week, he does a check-in — a verbal check-in with his doctor while he’s exercising. That is something that happens often.”
