President Donald Trump announced Monday that he plans to hold a Save America rally in Casper, Wyoming, on Saturday, May 28, 2022.
The announcement explains, “President Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America, delivers remarks in support of Endorsed Candidate Harriet Hageman for U.S. Representative from Wyoming.”
According to President Trump’s website, the rally will be held at the Ford Wyoming Center, and doors for the event will open at 11:00 a.m. MDT. Special guests and program speakers are scheduled to give remarks at 1:00 p.m. Finally, the 45th president’s speech will begin around 4:00 p.m.
Hageman is running against incumbent Rep. Liz Cheney to represent the state of Wyoming.
Cheney has established herself as an anti-Trump Republican, an identity that has not set well with her constituents or party. The Wyoming Republican Party voted 31-29Â in November to no longer recognize the congresswoman as a Republican. The vote by Cheney’s own party came after her involvement in the Jan. 6 committee and her pattern of publicly criticizing the 45th president.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) also voted overwhelmingly in February to formally censure Cheney due to her participation in the Jan. 6 committee. Trump described the censure of Cheney as, “A good and very appropriate thing to do as it pertains to our great Republican Party!”
Trump has endorsed Hageman ahead of the GOP primary in Wyoming, saying, “Harriet has my Complete and Total Endorsement in replacing the Democrats number one provider of sound bites, Liz Cheney.”
Trump’s Save America rally in Wyoming should boost momentum for Hageman’s competitive race against Cheney. The 45th president has held multiple mega rallies across the nation supporting his endorsed candidates. The Republican primaries in numerous states in May will give insight into the effectiveness of Trump’s key endorsements.
