A victim of the assassination attempt of President Trump at a rally celebrated his 51st wedding anniversary while he was recovering in the hospital and continues to bravely voice his support for President Trump. He has since been discharged from the hospital.

Fox News reported that James Copenhaver, from Moon Township, was one of the two victims who were injured during the shooting at the July 13 rally in Pennsylvania.

During an exclusive interview with Fox News, Copenhaver told the news outlet that on top of being physically injured from the shooting, he is also sad. He is sad at the current state of politics and the great divide in the country.

Copenhaver is a 74-year-old man who has been hospitalized for weeks with wounds on his abdomen and arms all because “the political divide in this country has become so great [that] people are literally willing to attend rallies where people are exercising their First Amendment rights and start firing bullets into crowds” said Copenhaver’s attorney Joseph Feldman.

According to Feldman, it all happened so fast, and at first, Copenhaver, who attended the rally with his best friend, didn’t realize that he shot a second time because there was so much pandemonium going on.

Despite having a long road ahead to recovery, Copenhaver keeps a positive attitude and thanks all the medical staff, law enforcement, and President Trump himself for their support.

According to Fox News, Copenhaver had spoken to President Trump over the phone from his hospital bed, saying it was like “talking to a friend … just someone who’s able to keep a conversation going.” Copenhaver and his wife even celebrated their 51st anniversary in hospital.

After his tragedy, Copenhaver continued to support President Trump, and Feldman explained that Copenhaver “is unafraid to voice his support for Trump, and he will not allow those who disagree with his views to silence him.”
