President Donald Trump blasted Joe Biden’s handling of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine Wednesday as tension escalates with Russia.
In a post on Truth Social, the 45th president wrote, “President Putin of Russia is now threatening the use of Nuclear Weapons, saying ‘It is not a bluff.'”
Vladimir Putin has accused western nations of threatening Russia with nuclear weapons; however, according to Fox News, no NATO ally is threatening Russia with nuclear war. Putin’s threat comes as the Ukrainian military is engaged in a successful counteroffensive to Russia’s devastating invasion of Ukraine.
On Wednesday, Putin threatened, “To those who allow themselves such statements regarding Russia, I want to remind you that our country also has various means of destruction, and for separate components and more modern than those of NATO countries, and when the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, to protect Russia and our people, we will certainly use all the means at our disposal.”
Putin’s threat was further emphasized as he warned western nations that his willingness to use nuclear weapons is “not a bluff.”
Joe Biden has repeatedly urged Russia not to engage in nuclear warfare, saying, “You will change the face of war unlike anything since World War II.” However, the Biden administration has not explained what the consequences for Russia would be if Putin used nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
In a recent interview on “60 Minutes,” Biden was asked what consequences Russia would face for using nuclear weapons. He responded, saying, “You think I would tell you if I knew exactly what it would be? Of course, I’m not gonna tell you. It’ll be consequential… depending on the extent of what they do will determine what response would occur.”
Trump has frequently blasted the Biden administration for failing to prevent the Russian invasion of Ukraine earlier this year. While Biden has issued warnings to Russia to dissuade Russia from escalating the conflict, his warnings have been perceived by Trump and other American leaders as inadequate. Trump has argued that the conflict would not have occurred if America had remained as strong as it was under the Trump administration.
“The Ukrainian conflict should never have happened, and would not have happened if I were President,” Trump said. “But as I have made very clear for quite some time, this could now end up being World War III.”
