The Trump campaign and Georgia GOP filed lawsuits over the weekend over several Georgia counties that illegally remained open to receive absentee ballots after early voting ended.
Early voting legally ended statewide on Friday, Nov. 1.
“At the last minute several heavily Democrat counties announced they would open their offices over the weekend to receive mail ballots. This is illegal, so we immediately filed a state court lawsuit,” the Trump campaign said in a statement.
“In a win for election integrity, the counties retreated from plans to keep drop boxes open over the weekend, but we continue to fight the illegal re-opening of the centers in state and federal court,” the statement added.
The Trump campaign also argued that the move was a partisan effort to boost Democrats in the swing state.
“With just two days until our country’s most important election, it is critical for officials to follow the law and run the election in a fair and transparent manner,” the Trump campaign’s statement added.
The statement concluded with a call to protect the state’s vote as Georgia’s voters prepare to legally cast their ballots on Tuesday.
“These actions by some Georgia counties do nothing but undermine the security of our elections and drive up mistrust in the process. Georgia must take immediate action to protect the vote,” it concluded.
The legal move comes after the Trump campaign announced Wednesday that it won a major lawsuit related to extending early voting in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, RSBN previously reported.
The county was reportedly illegally turning away early voters, with Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) immediately filing a lawsuit.
“The Pennsylvania Court has ordered that Bucks County must extend its in-person absentee voting (Pennsylvania’s early voting) through November 1. This is a huge win for President Trump’s election integrity efforts,” Trump’s campaign released in a statement.
“Bucks County, GO VOTE! If you’re in line by 5:00PM, it’s your right to vote – stay in line!” it added.
RNC President Michael also celebrated the victory in a post to X on Wednesday.
“PENNSYLVANIA LAWSUIT VICTORY,” he wrote. “We just won the Trump Campaign/RNC lawsuit against Bucks County, PA. We will now have extended early in-person mail-voting through November 1st — three extra days. We will keep fighting. Go vote! Stay in line!”
